By Donna Harris & Rachel Stroud-GoodrichAlimentation Couche-Tard plans to sell 36 Circle K sites across 14 US states, NRC Realty & Capital Advisors said Friday in a news release.
Couche-Tard has engaged NRC to handle the sale.
The store sizes are up to 4,000 square feet with an average lot size of 25,000square feet. Twenty sites are fee-owned and 16 are leased.
Twenty-three of the stores sell fuel, the release said. The stores are offered without fuel supply and without a convenience store brand.
"We have some good sites in this offering which will be of interest to individual operators and smaller companies," said Evan Gladstone, NRC's executive managing director, in announcing the sale. "There are multiple stores in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio,Pennsylvania and Texas, with single stores in Alabama, California, Michigan,Tennessee and Virginia."
The bid deadline is Dec. 4.
The 36-unit offering is the fourth sale NRC has conducted for Circle K in the last five years.
During that period, the Circle K fuel brand grew rapidly through acquisitions, new store construction and conversions from branded fuel to its proprietary brand. After making acquisitions, the company has divested stores that do not fit its business model.
In 2020, Circle K ranked sixteenth in the U.S. as a gasoline brand based on store visits at 2.09%. In 2024, it ranked second in the U.S. behind Shell as a gasoline brand based on store visits at 4.98%, according to OPISMarketSharePro. Throughout that timeframe, store throughput has been about 30%above average and the stores have retailed gasoline at about 2 cts/gal under market, the data shows.
